3 Ways to Fix WordPress File Upload Limit Without technical knowledge

Most of the web servers have a limit to only allow uploads smaller than 2Mb, which usually create a problem for WordPress too. If you got stuck in this problem then this guide will help you.
Remember most of the time this memory limit error is caused by the server but sometimes its WordPress too.


Increase WordPress file upload limit

Follow this procedure step by step and see which step solves your problem.


1. Create WordPress Configuration File

To incrWordPress wordpress file size limit you just have to create php.ini file in your WordPress installation folder as Home>>Wordpress>>Admin and after creating file edit it and paste following code:

Upload_max_filesize = 64M post_max_size = 64M max_execution_time = 300

Login to your admin panel and see that it’s working, if it doesn’t work then jump to next step.


2. Use .htaccess

Htaccess file set directory permissions for your WordPress blog. You can increase upload limit using .htaccess. To increase your upload limit through .htaccess go to your WordPress directory and open htaccess file (You might have to check hidden files option in the setting menu), enter the following code and save it.

php_value upload_max_filesize 64M php_value post_max_size 64M php_value max_execution_time 300 php_value max_input_time 300

3. Set Server PHP Configuration

If you have purchased shared hosting from any company then ask them to increase upload limit for you and they will do it for you. And If you own server yourself and have access to WHM, then login to WHM and follow below steps:

  1. From WHM panel, search PHP configuration menu.
  2. Select the PHP version you are primarily using the select bar.
  3. Find the upload value limit value and change it to your desired one.
  4. Restart server and check WordPress now.


Most probably your problem will be solved but if still, the problem is there then hire any server management expert and ask him to help you. It will not cost you higher then 30 bucks.
